redact.photos is run by Elowin Labs LLC ("we"). This page says what happens to your data when you use it.

Your photos and videos

Your files are never uploaded. A photo or clip you add is opened in the memory of your browser tab, the faces are found and hidden there, and the result is saved straight from the tab to your device. We never receive, see or keep your files, and we never use them to train anything.

What you type

The line where you say what should be hidden is read inside your browser. If a later version sends that short text to our server to work out what to look for, only the text goes, never the file, and we do not keep it after the answer is sent.

What your browser downloads

On first use your browser downloads the page and the files the tool needs from this site and keeps them in its cache. These requests carry nothing of yours to us.

Analytics

If you allow it in the cookie notice, we count visits with Plausible Analytics (cookieless) and Google Analytics 4: pages visited, the referring site, country, device and browser type, and a few coarse tool events such as whether a file was saved and its type. We never send file names, file contents or anything taken from your files. Google keeps Analytics data for 14 months. See Plausible's data policy and Google's Privacy Policy.

Errors

When the page itself breaks, a short error report (the error, the page, browser type) is sent so we can fix it. It never includes your files or what you typed.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and stop abuse.

Storage on your device

Your browser keeps your cookie choice, your light or dark theme and your language. The Cookie Policy lists each entry.

Tips

Optional tips are handled by Ko-fi and Stripe on their own websites. We do not see your card details.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use cross-site tracking cookies.

We hold no personal data about you beyond the analytics above. Write to hello@redact.photos with any question or request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

redact.photos is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this changes, this page changes first and the date at the top is updated.
